EDRWeb

EDRWeb is where a drug-resistant tuberculosis case in South Africa is recorded. An authorised user at a DR-TB unit enters the patient, the regimen and the outcome against a central database, and the National Department of Health reads national surveillance and case management off the same record.

Adverse events are recorded against the patient. EDRWeb generates the ADR forms from that record as PDFs, for the National Pharmacovigilance Centre and for SAHPRA, and it integrates with PViMS.

It runs in more than 800 treatment units across all nine provinces. We build it, we host it, and we support the people using it.

The Department’s 2025 review of DR-TB service decentralisation was computed from the register. Every site count and treatment initiation rate in it carries the line “Source: EDRWeb”.

EDRWeb Lite exists because of it, for the clinician registering a patient while standing in a clinic.
